Why October Is the Perfect Time to Wash Your Comforters and Blankets

The temperatures are dropping, the leaves are changing, and cozy season has officially arrived! October is the time of year when many of us start pulling our heavier comforters, blankets, quilts, and throws out of closets and storage bins. But before you put them back on your bed or curl up with them on the couch, there’s one important step you shouldn’t skip: give them a good cleaning.

What’s Hiding in Your Stored Bedding?

Even when comforters and blankets are stored away, they can collect dust, musty odors, allergens, and other particles. If you have pets, you may also find plenty of pet hair and dander left behind from last season.

Washing your bedding before using it again helps remove all that buildup and gives you a fresh, clean start for fall and winter.

The problem? Bulky comforters and heavy blankets can be difficult to properly clean in a standard home washing machine. Stuffing an oversized comforter into a washer can prevent it from moving freely, meaning water and detergent may not reach every area effectively. Drying bulky bedding at home can also take what feels like forever.

Let Soap Opera Laundromats Handle the Big Stuff

Soap Opera Laundromats' large-capacity washers and dryers make it easy to tackle oversized bedding. Instead of spending your entire day washing and drying one comforter at home, bring your bulky laundry to us and get it clean, fresh, and ready for those chilly October nights.

And October is an especially good time to do it!
